FOR THE LORD IS OUR JUDGE

The Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our King; it is He who will save us. (Isaiah 33:22)

The Lord Almighty is the creator of all things, including government (Isaiah 9:6). He created three institutions to care for us – family, Church and government. His heart is for all to experience godly governance. The branches of American government model His character: For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our King; it is He who will save us. (Isaiah 33:22)

THE LORD IS OUR JUDGE:

This is what the Lord says: “Maintain justice and do what is right….” (Isaiah 56:1) PRAY the Judicial Branch (Supreme Court) would establish and maintain just laws.

THE LORD IS OUR LAWGIVER:

If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. (Deuteronomy 28:1) PRAY the Legislative Branch (Congress) would enact laws that follow God’s commands.

THE LORD IS OUR KING:

See, a king will reign in righteousness and rulers will rule with justice. (Isaiah 32:1) PRAY the Executive Branch (President and his Administration) would reign in righteousness.

WE ARE PART OF GOD’S PLAN FOR GOVERNMEMT!

God created government to be stewarded by His people. It has been said that we get the government we deserve. We, as intercessors, have the power to shape history-the tool God has given us is intercession. You can join God in fulfilling His destiny for our great nation through PRAYER AND FASTING!

KEYS TO UNDERSTANDING YOUR ROLE IN GOVERNMEMT:

1. GOD”S HEART FOR NATIONS IS OFTEN NOT RELEASED EXCEPT THROUGH PRAYER: You do not have, because you do not ask. (Jas 4:2) May we be bold in our prayer to ask for God’s direction and intervention.
2. HUMILITY IS PARAMOUNT: God promises to heal our land: “…if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven , and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14) May we repent with humility.
3. THE CHURCH MUST LEAD IN REFLECTING GOD”S VALUES IN OUR NATION: “You are the salt of the earth.” (Matthew 5:13) May we lead our nation in pursuing godly government at every level.
4. WE ARE COMMANDED TO PRAY FOR OUR LEADERS: I urge, then, first of all, that petions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. (1 Timothy 2:1-2) May we obey the command to pray regularly for our leaders.
