Hello everyone. In last month’s newsletter, we wrote about the upcoming annual MANUP PHILLY Spiritual Conference, scheduled for Saturday, March 9th. By every standard, the event was a great success. More than 1,500 attendees came to listen to some great Catholic speakers such as Ron Jaworski, former quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles from 1977-1986. He gave an upbeat talk about the importance of his Catholic upbringing during his formative years, and how it helped him to be the successful person that he has become. Also, Matthew Kelly, noted writer and speaker, was present who also spoke of various ways by which people of all ages can become the best-version-of themselves.

Deacon Harold Burke-Sivers, one of the most sought after Catholic speakers of today, and active in giving lectures, retreats, and seminars in Parishes, workshops, and in the numerous conferences in the nation and around the world, was also in attendance; and gave a terrific and inspiring “ManUp” speech, meant to bring the spiritual best out of all men.

Mark Forrest, the acclaimed Irish Tenor, whose melodic voice has filled the concert halls including Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center and Cathedrals’ worldwide, sang inspirational songs that matched the impact of the other noted speakers. Many highly respected people from various professions helped make up the general audience. People like Steve Bozza, Director of the Family and Life Office for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, Father Stephan DeLacy, Vocation Director, Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and other prominent figures in the Right to Life Movement. Speaking of which, the 40 Days for Life Campaign, dedicated to prayer, fasting and peaceful activism with the purpose of repentance and turning around the culture of death, were represented by an exhibitor’s table. The group shared with the attendees all kinds of information about how committed Christians can make a spiritual difference in promoting the Culture of Life. Bryan Gail, from the Knights of the Immaculata; Walter Gies, from the Chester County Pro-Life Coalition; and others were all there, helping to make the event a “real happening”.

In other news, the Legion of Mary Presidium at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Claymont, DE continued with their Christ like zeal to help fellow Catholics know their faith better and become better equipped to explain it to others. Their radio program, the Divine Mercy Chaplet on Oremus Communications radio, keeps getting more and more interesting and inspiring every Friday afternoon at 3pm (EST). Also, their Patricians program, a series of monthly 2 hour sessions, continues to draw more and more followers of Christ to a deeper spiritual life.
