OREMUS COMMUNICATIONS NOVEMBER 2019 NEWSLETTER
Hello everyone. As most of you know, each year, the US Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB.org) observes the month of
October as Respect Life Month. The annual event calls upon the faithful “to cherish, defend and to protect those who are most
vulnerable, from the beginning of life until its end, and at every point in between.” The theme for this year 2019 Respect Life
Month, according to Cardinal Daniel DiNardo of Galveston-Houston Diocese, President of the USCCB, is the following: “Every life:
Cherished, Chosen, Sent” which highlights “Our call to build a culture of life as missionary disciples.” By every account, 2019 Respect
Life Sunday, October 6, was a great success in all of the dioceses under the USCCB. Oremus Communications (OC) salutes the
USCCB for its continued rock solid support for life at all stages of the life continuum.
On Tuesday, October 15, the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation held its 40th Anniversary
Banquet Dinner honoring such guests as the two news commentators, Diamond and Silk and our
own Ernie Ohlhoff. Ernie is the Director of Right to Life Outreach, and was the recipient of the 2019
PA Pro-Life Federation Lifetime Achievement Award. Congratulations Ernie!
On Tuesday, October 22, our regular guest, Carl Malburg, organizer of the International Pilgrim
Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima Foundation, joined our Family Rosary Program (OCFRP); and
spoke of the need for vocations in the context of the statement put forth by the USCCB, declaring
November 3-9, National Vocation Awareness Week. In addition, Carl prayed with us and helped
celebrate the Feast Day of St. Paul II.
On Tuesday, October 22, our good friend, Deb Piroch, Communications Director of Human Life International, issued a mass
alert detailing the imposition of new laws in Northern Ireland, negatively affecting the Catholic community. For more information,
email Deb at: dpiroch@hli.org or else visit the website https://www.hli.org/2019/10/hli-condemns-anti-catholic-lawsimposed-on-northern-ireland/.
On Wednesday, October 23, Legion of Mary (LOM) Immaculate Conception Praesidium in Hockessin, DE conducted another
successful Patricians’ meeting, delving into the virtue of perseverance, the fruit of the Fifth Sorrowful Mystery of the Crucifixion of
Christ. All of the participants came away with a deeper respect for the need to pray always for the power of perseverance. For
more information on the next program, please call Coralyn DeTagle at 302-766-0911.
On Saturday, October 26, we were reminded once again of the value of a sound Catholic
education when the Cardinal O’Hara High School (COHS) choir sang the elements of the liturgy at
Holy Mass on the annual “Hall of Fame Night”. The event honored outstanding students over
the years, including our own John Williamson of the Pro-Life America Radio Program, for living
their Catholic Faith in conjunction with their many abilities and talents. But in our opinion, the
rendition of Ave Maria by the choir at the Holy Mass that evening was the true standout. The
atmosphere was electric as the choir sang various parts of the Holy Liturgy with great devotion
to our Lord Jesus. Congratulations to everyone at COHS.
On October 28, a new movie called “Love and Mercy: Faustina” came out about the life of St. Faustina
Kowalska, the Polish sister whose visions of Jesus lead to the divine mercy devotion. The movie was a
one-night-only showing on more than 700 movie screens across the United States. The movie was
directed by Michael Kondrat who previously directed the movie “Two Crowns”, a 2017 film biography of
St. Maximilian Kolbe (our patron). Many thanks to the Chester County Chapter of The Kingsmen for
coordinating and helping to make the movie a great success in the movie theatres of Exton, PA.
We are very excited to have Annie Karto again, our good friend and spiritual vocalist. She will be on the OCFRP on Tuesday,
November 12. In addition to praying the Family Rosary, Annie will speak of the life of St. Josaphat, a martyr of the church.
There are still rooms available for the Knights of Immaculata retreat at Malvern Retreat House for the weekend of November
