Oremus Communications May 2018 Newletter

OREMUS COMMUNICATIONS MAY 2018 NEWSLETTER

Happy Easter Everyone! The Easter Season is the greatest of all Feasts because it gives us a chance to be
eternally happy with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, Mary, the Mother of God, all the angels and saints.
Everything else, including our problems, fears and concerns pale in comparison. We are so grateful and thankful
that our Lord has come and saved us from our sins and their consequences.
Pope Francis, as usual, was quite busy in Rome with all of his Papal activities during Lent and Easter, but one
these activities caught our attention. In a Papal letter, he asked us to pray extra hard for vocations after declaring
the fourth Sunday of Easter, April 22nd as a World Day of Prayer for Vocations. We all know that the shortage of
priests and religious in many areas of the world is alarming. Accordingly, Oremus Communications responded in
our Family Rosary Program by praying extra hard on that date. We intend to continue praying extra hard on an
ongoing basis so that we will always have enough priests, brothers and nuns to carry on the mission of the church.
While we observed Easter Sunday on April 1st, on Friday, April 27th, we had a special guest on our Family Rosary
Program, Mr. Massimo Paris, an expert in the Shroud of Turin and Charlie DeFeo, our frequent guest co-host, who
offered us an insightful account of the history of the Shroud of Turin.
The month of May is now upon us, and we look forward to honoring our Blessed Mother through a variety of
activities such as participation in the May procession on Sunday, May 6th at the Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and
Paul, in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Next, we have Mr. Carl Malburg, Guardian of the International Pilgrim
Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima who will be in Sascatchewan, Canada calling in to the Oremus Communications
Family Rosary Program (OCFRP) to give us the latest information about Our Lady of Fatima on Tuesday, May 15.
On Thursday, May 31, on the Feast of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, we are glad to welcome a new guest cohost
to OCFRP, Rev. Msgr. John T. Conway, Pastor of Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church in North
Wales, PA, part of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Msgr. Conway will pray the Holy Rosary with us as well as
share his reflections on the importance of the Easter Season.
