Hello everyone. Pope Francis continues to amaze the world with his stamina and dedication to our Lord with another journey, this time to parts of Africa: Mozambique, Madagascar, and Mauritius. He began his travel first, to Mozambique, on Friday, September 6 when he celebrated Holy Mass and preached reconciliation and peace in the strife torn country. In Madagascar, he was warmly greeted at the airport by the President and an Official Delegation of prominent leaders. On Monday, September 9, the Holy Father then flew to Mauritius for the final leg of his journey, where he spoke for the need for more holiness in the world.
On September 12, Carl Malburg, leader of the International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima Foundation joined us for the Feast of the Most Holy Name of Mary to talk about the need for more respect on behalf our Catholic values and traditions. He also commented on the recent effects of the hurricane on the population in the Bahamas, especially its poor. Carl said: “They seem to suffer the most in these disasters.”
On Monday, September 16, our good friend Brian Gale, noted author and publicist and regional leader of the Immaculata, spoke of the history of the Immaculata, especially its founding on October 13, 1917 by our patron, St. Maximilian Kolbe. He pointed out the coincidence between the day of the founding of the Immaculata and the very day when our Lady of Fatima appeared to the three children, Lucia, Jacinto, and Francisco in Fatima, Portugal for her sixth and last apparitions. On Saturday, September 18, the Legion of Mary (LOM) Immaculate Conception Praesidium in Hockessin, DE conducted their monthly meeting of the Patricians featuring the differences between Catholicism and the rest of Christianity. One of its major conclusions reaffirmed the position that Catholics believe in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist. The date of October 23 was selected to be the time for the next Patrician meeting to be held at the Parish of St. Mary the Assumption in Hockessin, DE. The topic will be a discussion on the importance of taking care of the environment in accordance with the Papal Encyclical of Laudato Si. For more information contact OC, once again.
On September 7 the LOM celebrated its 98th anniversary of its founding and the birth date of our Blessed Mother on the following day, Sunday, September 8. Locally, the Praesidium hosted an official birthday party along with an array of foods, including a wonderful birthday cake.
The month of October promises to bring more important events, which least of which, is the 40 Days of Life Campaign from September 25 to November 3. For more information go to www.campaignlifecoalition.com.
On Wednesday, October 2nd, the Feast Day of the Guardian Angels, renowned songwriter and vocalist, Annie Karto, will be our special guest on Oremus Communications Family Rosary Program (OCFRP). In addition, to discussing the role of our guardian angels in our lives, time permitting, she will give us an update on Pro-Life activities in the state of Florida.
On Sunday, October 13, John Williamson of the Pro-Life America Radio, et al, will host the annual fundraising event, Johnny’s Run for Life, to promote the Culture of Life. Runners will meet at the Cardinal O’Hara Catholic High School. For more information, contact OC.
On Tuesday, October 15, The PA Pro-Life Federation will hold its 40th Anniversary “Celebrate Life” banquet in the Radisson Hotel in Harrisburg, PA. It should be mentioned that the PA Pro-Life Federation consists of numerous Pro-Life groups throughout Pennsylvania to promote Pro-Life legislation. A special award to Mr. Ernie Ohlhoff will be given at the dinner for his longtime service both in the state of PA and in Washington, DC on behalf of preborn children.
On October 22, Carl Malburg will be with OCFRP on the Feast Day of Pope John Paul II and will talk about the closeness between Pope John Paul II and Our Lady of Fatima.
On October 25, Charlie DeFeo will be in the studio to deliver additional information about the Family Faith Day held by the
St. Raymond Nonnatus in upstate New York in late September.
We continue to pray for all those in need, especially the victims of the terrible flooding in Texas just recently.
