How Is Your Lent Going? 2023

We are less than one week into Lent 2023. How is it going so far?

The most important thing is to grow closer to Jesus and build a relationship with him through Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving.

How do we do this? We do it in many ways and it’s both personal and communal so start going to mass or increase your mass attendance; but first make a good confession and examination of conscience in the Sacrament and the daily Examen of St. Ignatius of Loyola is a good guide – https://www.ignatianspirituality.com/ignatian-prayer/the-examen/

Go to Eucharistic Adoration and strive for a weekly holy hour – https://www.omvusa.org/blog/what-is-eucharistic-adoration/#:~:text=What%20Is%20Eucharistic%20Adoration%3F%20During%20Eucharistic%20Adoration%2C%20the,kept%20in%20a%20tabernacle%20at%20your%20parish%20church.

Read your Bible, Catechism of The Catholic Church and pray The Liturgy of Hours, The Rosary and Chaplet of Divine Mercy or learn a new devotion.

Volunteer by feeding the homeless, clothing the naked, praying in front of an abortion killing center or find another work of mercy and learn what both the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy are and meditate on the 10 Commandments and The 8 Beatitudes Jesus gave us.

Donate money to your Church, Parish and/or favortie Charity.

Give of yourself through fasting by giving up food or something else like social media or use of your phone. Spend more time in silence. Self denial and sacrifice help us grow in holiness.

Spend more time with Loved Ones!

Give of your time, talent and treasure and strive to get closer to Jesus and to listen to His voice in your heart. If you sincerely strive to do some things I mention above you will grow closer to Jesus and you may find new devotions or things that will bring you closer to Him. Ask The Blessed Mother to help you. She will and you will get closer to her and the saints as well!

You will experience more peace and joy and receive our Lord’s Grace, which is His life in you.

God bless you on your jouney and keep it going throughout the rest of the year and your entire life!
